With the rising craze of Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Ice-Age, etc. around the world, hosting a movie theme party for preteens is an exciting and interesting way to celebrate a joyous occasion.

A movie theme party is a hit among any age group. However, the party needs to be realistic to bring in the essence of watching a movie in a theater  Replace the boring and dull invitation cards with a peppy and colorful card cut out in the shape of either a movie ticket or a popcorn bag. If you choose a movie ticket write the date, time, hall number and the seat number as it is written in the original ticket. The date and time will reflect the day on which the much-awaited party is going to be hosted and the hall number indicates the address of  the party.

On the popcorn bag paste the picture of the movie you are going to screen and attach an artificial plastic reel to make the invitation more appealing and charismatic.  Depicting the atmosphere of the theater is the next challenging task. Arrange for comfortable sofas and in case you don’t own a sofa, keep cushions on the plastic chairs to make them comfortable. Arrange them in rows and columns as arranged in the theater  You can also paste seat numbers on the back of the chairs and request the guest to sit according to the seat allotted to them in the invitation to come ticket. Decorate the party area with movie posters, roll out red carpets and hang a gold star or round balloons to make the atmosphere more lively and electrifying.

Make sure to have extra pillows and blankets in your repository.
You can even ask the guests to dress up like their favorite Hollywood celebrity. Mimicking their famous dialogues will make the party melodramatic and add five-stars to it. When you decide to play the movie, hand over a box full of popcorn to the guest and dim the lights. Arrange for a large screen television or a projector for better viewing.

During the interval serve the guests with cold drinks, nachos, hot dogs, etc. You can also serve the food according to the movie. For example, for Harry Potter series serve the guests with cupcakes, chicken loaf or lollipops, chocolate cake, etc. as it is served in the movie. This can be an innovative and unique step.

The movie can be selected based on the likes and dislike of the gathering. Shortlist a few movies and ask the preteens their choice. As far as possible avoid horror and romantic flicks as they can scare the preteens especially when the lights are dim and watching adult content is not advisable at such a tender and young age. Action, comedy and animation movies should be the target.

Last, but not the least, send out each preteen with a party favor as a thank you gesture. Give them something, which they can cherish for a long time and every time they see the party favor they get reminded of the grand party you hosted. Beautifully designed popcorn box made from cardboard, key chains with the movie name or picture printed or a collection of soundtrack CD’s.
